Hot Cocoa for Heroes

The fantastic idea/initiative of raising money for our Veterans by selling “Hot Cocoa for Heroes” on a cold Veterans’ Day was a big success this year.  It was the brainchild of [L to R in the photo] Brayden & Arturo Garcia and Madelyn & Brendan Troy, who along with their cousins Collin, Cassidy, and Matthew Waters, and their neighbors Allie & Cassie Waitkus and Isabella Georgetti) raised over 500 dollars in their second annual hot chocolate stand to raise money for the “Rockland Homes for Heroes” on Western Highway in Tappan.  The homes are supported rental apartments for former homeless Veterans and are operated by a local community not-for-profit charity headquartered in the Blue Hill Plaza in Pearl River. Read More

A Civilization of Kindness, Compassion, and Patriotism

A Civilization of Kindness, Compassion, and Patriotism

There is a local community group called “PAY IT FORWARD” of friends, who have come together to take what they have learned from their past experience and to help each other with lessons learned. They wanted to give back to our Veterans for Christmas. They found “Rockland Homes For Heroes” and decided this was where they wanted to help. They contributed very generous Gift Cards to every former homeless Veteran who have made a new start in our community. The “PAY IT FORWARD” family of friends seek no praise, no attention, no identification, no thank-yous, only the personal joy and peace of unselfish giving. Read More

Neuberger Berman Volunteers Honor Rose Barry

Each year in early May, Neuberger Berman celebrates the anniversary of our return to our roots as an independent company with a “Celebration with Service,” a week+ of volunteer projects in which we use our talents to benefit others. Our annual spring landscaping and site beautification at Rockland Homes for Heroes is always a high point. This year our time at Rockland Homes for Heroes was especially meaningful because we also honored Rose Barry, our former team member, and colleague, who passed away this winter after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Read More
